MAGNETS

MAGNETS is the solo project of disabled artist, advocate and multi-disciplinary, Siobhan McGinnity. Her sound is characterised by textural layers, chorus pedals, driving rhythm and a healthy dose of nostalgia.

Beyond her music, Siobhan stands as a staunch advocate for inclusivity in Australia's music scene. In the past, she has served on Music Victoria’s Women’s Advisory Panel, educated for Full Stop Australia to prevent violence in music venues, produced captivating International Women’s Day showcases and presented on many a panel for disability access and inclusion. Her groundbreaking PhD thesis, “Hearing Injury in the Music Industry,” earned multiple accolades from the prestigious National Hearing Conservation Association in the USA. In 2021, she produced the inaugural “Music Makers” program for Arts Access Victoria, creating a unique mentorship platform for Deaf and disabled music professionals.
